Intel's thunderbolt technology


In february 2011 intel announced its thunderbolt technology. With this technology data can be transferred at the rate of 10Gbps, using a simple cable connecting 2 laptops. Macbook pro was the first one to use it. Lenovo has now come-up with this technology abd is making this technology available to its customers on its laptops. 
Thunderbolt is a new high-speed technology, that can transfer a full length HD movie in less than 30 seconds.

Intel developed this technology with a vision to increase the media transfer rate between devices and give a better user experience. The technology combines high-speed data transfer and HD Video connection using a single cable. Intel delivers this technology using two communication protocols
  • .     PCI Express
  • .     Display Port

Data transfer is controlled by the PCI express while Display port is for displays. The technology is compatible with the existing displays and adapters and uses a common connector .
