Convert video/audio files using VLC media player

Simple steps to convert audio/video from one format to the other - 

1. Open VLC media player.

2. Click on MEDIA.

3. Go to convert/save.

4. Or instead of following 2nd and 3rd step just press ctrl+R after opening VLC player.

5. Now a new window "Open Media" opens.

6. Browse the files you want to convert using the "add" option.

7. Now click on "convert/save".

8. Now first select the "profile", profile is actually the type of format in which you want the output to be.For eg., if you want to convert a video into an audio format,choose Audio-mp3 or audio-AAC .

9. Now in the destination option, select the destination file by clicking on browse a new window "save file" will open .

10. Choosing an appropriate location to store your converted file, rename the file in the format you want your output to be, irrespective of what you chose in the profile option in step 8. For eg, VLC doesn't show Audio-wav format in the profile folder but choosing any audio format in the profile in step 8 like "audio-mp3", if I name the file as audio.wav in the "save file" window I get the wav format output.

11. Click on save.

12. VLC now starts streaming. While streaming VLC actually converts your file.

13. Now go to the destination folder and play your file.

PS: - Using this method you can convert your audio file into wav format to change your windows start up tone.

Lenovo has just launched its android and windows based tablets. The Ideapad tablets are based on both windows 7 and android 3.1 while the Thinkpad offers only the Android 3.1 series.The Ideapad Tablet K1 is based on the recently launched Android 3.1 honeycomb platform while the Ideapad P1 works on windows 7.

Google's docs viewer earlier supported 15 different file formats like .doc, pdf, jpg etc. Google today, added the support for ZIP and RAR files in the gmail and now you need not download the file and then view it, Just view the file and download if you need it.

New google+ app for iPhone

Note that, this google+ app is only available or rather compatible with iPhones. The google+ app doesn't load on the iPad and neither is it configured according to its screen resolution.Google says that its working on the app and it is possible that google may unveil this app's new and better versions. A bigger URL in not a better option. Hence, google , in 2009 launched the first shortcut for its users, goo.gl .

Today, google announced a shorter Official URL. This URL, g.co is a shorter URL to access all google services. Keeping in mind that a simpler and shorter URL is always easier for a user to share and  to remember. g.co will redirect to pages owned by google. Also, if you are goo.gl user then you dont need to worry, because the goo.gl URL service wont be affected by the launch of the g.co URL. It will continue to be google's URL open for public. Google was helped by the .CO internet SAS(who operate these .co domain names) for acquisitioning the new URL for google g.co.

Ever thought about the thing that makes a TV show a 3D movie? Well if you didnt, then here's all the stuff about how 3D TV's work.

What makes you feel that a 2D screen is producing a 3D image...well its all a trick being played with your eyes and brain.............how?read the stuff below..

Now, Using a handful of gadgets you can really get that 3D experience. A 3D capable Blu Ray player, a 3D TV, and of course...the glasses. Combination of these, deliver separate, full HD (1080 p) images to each eye. Blu-Ray discs have plenty of space to store a separate 1080p signal and also the coding for each, the left and the right eye. The 3D players use a special chip. This chip identifies the coding,interprets it and sends the coding to the 3D TV.

Now comes the role of TV.

How are 3D TV's different from those conventional ones?

Well, after the 3D player sends the coding info to the TV, a special software in the TV converts the code into images and the TV shows the images in High Definition and when these images, different for each eye formed from the special coding for each eye, reach our eyes and merge into one, we see depth. Its just like the real life phenomenon in which images seen by the left and right eye merge into one to produce depth. The difference in technical world is only between reality and coding. For 3D TV's to deliver these High Definition images conitnuously, the TV has to refresh the picture 120 times a second with alternating frames for each, the left and the right eye. This tricks your brain. Since an image remains for only 16th part of a second, here you have an image refreshed for each eye at 60th part of a second. This is where the trick lies.

The glasses also play a major role in producing the 3D effect. The glasses are basically active shutter glasses. This means that they work exactly like a shutter in a camera, blocking one eye at a time, so that eyes see the image meant for it. The glasses are made of clear LCD lenses, that darken and brighten according to the image signals.

NOTE : It is always adviced not to view TV or cinema continuously in 3D. Its true and just because of the trick being played with your brain. This causes eye strain.

Downloading through a torrent is actually a P2P or Peer to Peer file sharing process. In this file sharing process, a torrent client locates the PC's throughout the network that have the file you need. These PC's are called peers. A sample of how this P2P sharing tkaes place is shown in the picture below.

 

 This sharing is probably derived from the concept of chain reaction and works in this way....

• You search for a file on net and find it on 'x' computers(Peers).
• These 'x' computers derive their file from other 'y' computers.
• and so on.........
• This forms a sort of a chain reaction. 

Downloading via torrents is of great importance as the speed is increased because greater the number of people located with the same file easier would be the download, since file transfer load is equally distributed.

These searches and file transfer can cause bottlenecks. What people do is that after downloading the file , they disconnect themselves from the server, without allowing others to locate file on their systems. So even if one of the systems is disconnected from the mid of the chain, the whole string of PC's joined to that particular computer suffers.This is called 'leeching'

Bittorrent!

Now when you talk of Leeching, Bittorrent is of great help and importace. It is a protocol which offloads a part of the peer tracking work to a Central Server (called Tracker). It also works on the principle of tit-for-tat. This makes it important for people to understand that you have to give files in order to receive them. Hance, Bittorrent is of great help in solving the problem of Leeching.In bittorrent the more you share, the faster you download.

Bittorrent converts your downloads into small pieces and downloads it from different locations. This helps in utilising your connection bandwidth properly!

What is a torrent?

KEEPING IT SIMPLE, Using a torrent you download that particular file which the torrent belongs to. Suppose you want to download a file or a software say 'A', then 'A' will has torrents related to it, which vary in quantity. That torrent corresponding to the file is downloaded and is then used by the torrent client to download the file.

How is downloading through torrent different from regular download? 

Downloading via torrent is different from regular download, as regular or direct downloads may not support the resume feature, but torrents always do! Using a torrent client you can stop,pause or start the download any time you want. Even turning off the PC doesn't affect the portion of file downloaded, the download resumes from the point it was last stopped.

How to download a file using torrent? 

1. Prerequisite : To download a file using torrent, you need to have a torrent client. Download and install bittorrent from the link provided above.
2. Now go to a torrent search engine like torrentz.eu or toorgle.com.
3. Type the name of the file you are searching for in the search box.
4. Click on search
5. After clicking on search, you will see a number of files listed below the search box. Click on the appropriate file.
6. After clicking on the appropriate file, a new page opens, providing you options of different torrent sites.
7. Click on any of the sites, or the one you know about.
8. The site opens. Click on "download torrent".
9. After saving the torrent file, locate it on your PC and double click on it or Double click on the torrent file being shown in "downloads".
10. Bittorrent opens and download starts.

9. Now once again go to Tools>Default User Agent and select the model no. of your phone.

Shahrukh Khan's upcoming flick that's already making news : Ra.One ,is soon going to be available as a PS2 and PS3 game.Sony Playstation has teamed up with Shahrukh Khan's production house :Red Chillies Entertainment to develop "Ra.One: the game" which is meant exclusively for the PS2 and the PS3 edition of the playstation.
A good news for Shahrukh's fans and gamers is that the Bollywood star will himself provide voiceovers as well as develop the storyline for the game.

The developers are also working on a multiplayer game mode, but the exact specifications haven't been made public yet. The game is expected to release around the september end at the time when the movie has been scheduled to release!

Play Station 4 to be launched in 2012!

PLAY STATION 4

Sony is busy improving PS3 and is going to launch a whole new version the "PS4" with quite a lot of improvements in the PS3, as said by the sources.

There have been speculations that Sony is going to improve the present PS3 NVIDIA RSX graphics processor for an Intel Larrabee chip.Also, the PS4 may have an 802.11n chipset instead of the 802.11b/g present in the PS3's. The PS4 may use another one similar to the PS3’s cell processor - a 65nm chip like the PowerXCell 8i, which supports at least 8 SPE (Synergistic Processing Elements). This is more as the PS3's support 7 SPE's.

Apart from the  multi-core processors, PS4 may also include an additional physics card that helps in improving the game’s physics. For example, the spattering of water and rain may already look more realistic basing it on the laws of physics. The realism on trees and units falling down to either right or left will also be improved.

The PS4 will also have:

•  Blu-Ray compatibility
• Greater Storage Capacity
• Smaller Console Size

The PS4 is expected to release in 2012.
